Adult swimming lesson with Swim Central at Ultra

I finally had the courage to enroll at Swim Central! Actually, tapos ko na lahat ng 8 sessions. Ngayon, marunong na kong mag freestyle, breast stroke, and backfloat.

But before I began the lesson, All I knew about swimming was how to do bubbles and flutter kick which Daddy E taught me. And apart from that — nada. Add to my zero knowledge, I was really anxious about lots of things, like are the coaches patient? are my classmates friendly? will I pick up the lessons quickly? It was like first day high LOL!

Turned out my worry was needless. I met four coaches in all the eight sessions I had: coaches Joemel, Ervin, Bryan, and Glenn. They were all nice and dedicated to teach the students to swim. I was also happy that I like my classmates too: Cielo, Dolph, and Nat. Too bad I won’t be seeing them again, except Nat who still swims at the Ultra (saw him while I was pratising).

That’s us after our session. A photo from one of the coaches.

Swim Central also has this Open Water Experience (OWE) wherein students get to jump into a deep water and practice all that they have learned — basic swimming and survival skills. Still can’t do that though 🙁 and I get envious watching the videos of those who were able to dive into the deep. But I know someday I’d be able to.

And then at first, ang baba ng endurance ko. Ang hina ko. Fifteen meters lang hinihingal na ‘ko. But almost two months into swimming, I can say na nag-improve na yung endurance ko. It’s an improvement.

But at least ngayon, iba na.

I’m thankful sa Swim Central. Kasi when you say swimming lesson, automatic ang maiisip mo pang bata. Kaya as an adult, parang nakakadyahe mag-aral ng swimming. Pero good thing, in my point of view, Swim Central made it look cool. Astig nga ng photo and video advertisements nila. Mahahatak ka.

Anyway, that’s it. If you’re contemplating to enrol for a swimming lesson, eh don’t waste your time dithering. I’ve been undecided for two months. But when I finished all the lessons, I never regretted it. Good luck!
