Hepatitis (Hep B)
Price Estimate: Php 900
A virus that causes severe and potentially lifelong liver damage and occassionally liver cancer. Transmitted by sexual contact, prolong intimate contact, and exposure to infected blood through needles, it is very rare in infants and children. But an infected mom can pass it to her newborn at the time of delivery.

This virus causes severe acute gastroenteritis with diarrhea and vomiting primarily in infants and young children. Children catch it by touching something that’s contaminated and then putting their hands in their mouth.

Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP)
Diphteria, a severe repiratory illness that is extremely rare in the United States but is common in third world countries.
Tetanus, A disease that causes paralysis when a deep, dirty wound is allowed to fester.
Pertussis, or whooping cough, a respiratory illness that causes coughing fits lasting several weeks. In young infants it can be life threatening. The little “a” in DTaP stands for acellular, a newer form of vaccine, which is less reactive than the older DPT vaccine.
Inactivated Polio Virus (IPV)
A virus that can sometimes cause paralysis.
Hemophilis Influenza B, which causes meninghitis and blood infections. These conditions are now rare due to the vaccination.

A bacterium that causes menigitis, pneumonia and blood infections. It is not a rare disease and is responsible for hundreds to thousands of death in United States each year. This is a new vaccine and since its release in 2000 the number of reported pneumococcus cases is already declining.
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

Measles, a rarely fatal virus that causes a rash, fever and sever cough. It fairly rare in developed countries.
Mumps, a virus that causes fever, tonsilitis, swollen cheek glands and a rash. In older children and adults it can cause sterility and, very rarely, can be fatal.
Rubella, or German Measles, virtually harmless to infants and children, it can, however, cause birth defects if a nonimmune pregnant woman is exposed to it.
Varicella (Chicken Pox)

A virus that causes fever and blistery spots.
A very different disease from Hepa B, Hepa A is a virus that causes mild flu symptoms, mild inflammation of the liver, and yellow skin in infants and children, with virtually no long term effects. it can be more severe in teenagers and adults. It is transmitted through contaminated food or water.
