Yesha and I had head lice! So I asked hubby to buy us Kwell shampoo to remove them. Yesha probably got it from her playmates during our vacation at my parents. And then the lice crawled to my hair while we were sleeping… Yikes!! — that was hubby’s response.
Kwell Shampoo Review
Anyway, Kwell shampoo came instantly to mind because this was what my mom used on my hair when I was a kid. I remember that with this shampoo the lice were all eradicated, in just one usage. The lice and all its eggs (nits) were all gone.
It was a clear liquid that emitted medicated smell. It didn’t foam easily, unless you put more of it and lather with water. You can buy Kwell shampoo in bottles and sachets at Watsons, The Generics Phamacy, and Mercury Drug.
When I used this with Yesha, it also had the same effect. I even saw dead lice on the floor of the shower area as I rinsed her hair. When I used the lice comb on her hair, the dead lice stick to its fine teeth. I then dislodged the eggs by shaking the lice comb on a white paper, where the eggs fell off easily. That was how effective Kwell shampoo was to Yesha’s hair.
But, that was not the case with me — now as an adult. I have a long, thick hair, and shampooing by myself with Kwell has been difficult. I didn’t want to cut my hair short just for those darned lice. So that’s why it was unsuccessful. We shampooed the week after, but we still had lice that lasted for a month. It was so stressful.
Lice Aliz Review
We didn’t continue with Kwell shampoo as I find it tedious to use. Instead, we tried Lice Aliz. This one was easier because we used it like a typical shampoo. Only that we left it longer on our hair. It was foamy and left a good smell.
We used Lice Aliz as our shampoo once a week, for four consecutive weeks. Unlike Kwell, it didn’t eradicate the lice in one sweep. But I guess, over time, it made the lice and eggs poisoned and abnormal, that it couldn’t reproduce properly. That’s just my silly hypothesis. Also, we used Lice Aliz in combination with lice comb.
In our experience both shampoos were effective in removing and killing the head lice. With Kwell, if you could apply it correctly, thoroughly and generously on the hair, I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. For Lice Aliz, it was personally more convenient to use, but the effect took longer.
So anyway, after more than a month of battling with head lice, we’re now lice-free, finally! Phew!
How we used Kwell Shampoo
I’m going to describe how my mom and I did it,
- Lower the head on the sink or shower floor in a bowing position.
- Generously apply Kwell on the hair until it becomes foamy
- Thoroughly lather the hair near the nape and temple area.
- Leave the shampoo for 10-15 minutes.
- Rinse the hair thoroughly with water.
- Dry the hair with a fresh towel.
- Comb the hair with a lice comb to remove the lice and eggs.
